Purpose:

The safeguarding guide is designed to protect vulnerable adults and children that CleanRise Ltd. interacts with, ensuring they are free from abuse, neglect, and harm.

Scope:

This guide applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and anyone working under the CleanRise Ltd. umbrella.It includes specific guidelines when working in homes or flats where children are present.

Safeguarding policy

Policy Statement:


CleanRise Ltd. is committed to ensuring that all individuals, particularly vulnerable adults and children, are safeguarded from harm during our services. The company recognizes its legal responsibilities under UK law to protect vulnerable groups.

  1. Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Identify: Recognize signs of abuse, harm, and neglect early in both adults and children.
    Respond: Ensure all staff know how to respond to safeguarding concerns.
    Report: Follow correct procedures to report and record safeguarding incidents.
    Prevent: Implement preventative measures, including risk assessments, training, and adherence to procedures.
  2. Definitions:
    Vulnerable Adults: Anyone aged 18 or over who needs community care services due to disability, age, or illness and cannot protect themselves from harm or exploitation.Children: Anyone under the age of 18.
    Abuse Types: Physical, emotional, sexual, financial, neglect, self-neglect, and discriminatory abuse.
  3. Legal Framework:
    CleanRise Ltd. adheres to UK safeguarding laws, including:The Children Act 1989 & 2004: Ensures the welfare of children is paramount.The Care Act 2014: Outlines the duty of care towards vulnerable adults.
    The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006: Sets out who is barred from working with vulnerable adults.
    The Mental Capacity Act 2005: Ensures that individuals unable to make their own decisions are protected.Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018): Sets inter-agency safeguarding guidelines for protecting children.
  4. Staff Conduct Around Children:
    Appropriate Behavior: Staff must always act in a professional manner around children.
    Avoid Isolation: Avoid being left alone with a child while working. Always stay visible and in the presence of other adults if possible.
    Boundaries: Do not engage in physical contact or inappropriate conversations with children.
    Respect for Family Rules: Follow household rules regarding children’s routines, but never discipline or engage in any corrective behavior toward children.

     

    Reporting Procedures:

    Immediate Concerns:                                                                                                                                                                                                                    If someone is in immediate danger, call emergency services (999).
    Non-Emergency Concerns: 

    If you have concerns about the safety or well-being of a child or a vurnelable adult but there is no immediate danger, follow these steps:

    Document the Concern:
    Write down the details of what you observed or what was disclosed, including dates, times, names, and any relevant information. Be factual and as specific as possible.
    Report the Concern to Your Superior:
    Share your documented concern with your superior or immediate line manager within the company. They will review the information and take the necessary steps, which may include escalating the concern to external safeguarding agencies if appropriate.
    External Reporting:
    If further action is needed, your superior will work with the appropriate authorities. This may involve contacting the local Children's Social Care team or the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) or contact local Adult Social Care team.
